Having got to bed at 4am on Thursday, last night was meant to be a nice, relaxing early one. Yeah. You can see where this is going.
We left at about 6pm for an apparently famous comedy club – the Comic Strip – which it seems pretty much every comedian and comedy actor in the world has played at one point or another. We had free tickets from NYC Navigator (the guys who organized our pre-Thanksgiving party), and there was a crowd of about 25 people they’d brought along – so it was a really fun (albeit civilised) time there.
There was an afterparty to that event too, but instead we opted for meeting a friend in a bar midtown: Rudy’s Bar & Grill. They have free hotdogs there. They have free hotdogs there. The place was so crowded it has to be a fire hazard, but along with the hotdogs the jukebox way more than made up for this. At one point pretty much all conversation in the bar stopped whilst everyone sung along to Bohemian Rhapsody. Which put us in a karaoke mood. Yeah. You can see where this is going.
We headed off with new friends from the bar, and I don’t honestly know where it was we ended up, but there was unlimited beer & vodka in our own little karaoke room. The only thing that could have made it better was MC Hammer. So we put MC Hammer on.
Oh, and apparently the cast of some American TV show were in the main room of this karaoke place. They were wearing all white and butchering The Kinks. Not that I’m one to judge.
I got to sleep about 6am or so. Today was pretty much a write-off.
