In the wild and thrilling world of Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining, two behemoths stand locked in eternal conflict, each constantly trying to prove itself the premier conference.
The annual ACM SIGKDD conference is the premier international forum for data mining researchers and practitioners.
The IEEE International Conference on Data Mining series (ICDM) has established itself as the world’s premier research conference in data mining.
Personally, however, I don’t see that there’s any competition. Whilst each has made wonderful contributions to the world of science and acadæmia, only one of them is being held in California this August. Take a guess which I’ll be submitting a paper to later this month.
